2025 ASME CODE

The 2025 edition of the ASME Code has been published and is now mandatory for all new orders. Some of the major changes to be aware of are as follows:

  • ASME has reorganized parts of the code to simplify navigation. A new Subsection D has been created, which consolidates all rules for specific types of vessels and components, such as shell and tube exchangers (Part UHX), expansion joints (Parts UEB and UEJ), integrally forged vessels (Part UIF), jacketed vessels (Part UJV), and others.
  • As part of an ongoing project to harmonize requirements and avoid duplication between Divisions 1 and 2, more calculation sections only appear in Division 2, instead of in both places. For example, Appendix 2 now points designers of custom flanges to formulas and requirements in Section 4.16 in Division 2.
  • The engineering requirements of Appendix 47 have also been revised. Requirements for responsible charge and pre-defined designer levels have been removed. Now manufacturers must define their minimum requirements for designers, and document training and experience of each designer.

Many other changes were made throughout the code. As always, contact us if you have any questions about the ASME Code.
