TEMA’s Heat Exchanger Specification Sheets have been updated in the latest edition. Often referred to as TEMA data sheets, they can be used in multiple ways to communicate the requirements for an exchanger to be designed, or to report the final configuration of an exchanger.
The new data sheet adds a second page, to allow a much larger area for the exchanger outline sketch. It also includes a new table to specify multiple design and operating conditions, which are needed to determine the need for an expansion joint. The exchanger configuration and materials sections were also expanded and improved.
A purchaser or end user of a heat exchanger can use the data sheet to specify all the requirements of a heat exchanger for a fabricator to quote. Thermal design requirements can be specified if needed. The fabricator, in turn, can complete the data sheet with final mechanical design information. Using a standardized data sheet allows for easier comparison of designs and options.
